Baby Bouncer Buying Guide

Baby Bouncers

Looking for something fun and safe to amuse your newborn baby for hours on end? Why not consider a baby bouncer! Bouncers are the perfect toys for moms on the go and energetic babies that need a little entertainment. Styles of Bouncers

There are many different styles of bouncers to select from. Framed bouncers or stand alone bouncers come with frames that rock your baby forward to back using your baby’s weight as the impetus for movement.

There are also battery-operated bouncers that rock independently of your baby’s actions. Be aware that you should keep a stash of batteries on hand should you select this type of baby bouncer.

Selecting the Best Baby Bouncer
Most monitors come with some standard features including:

  • Safety latches and harnesses: most bouncers will come with a five or three point harness. This should latch around your baby’s waist, in between the legs and possibly over the shoulders to prevent your baby from falling or tipping over.

  • Wide base: a sturdy bouncer will have a wise base to keep your baby from tipping it over while exercising.

  • Padding: the best bouncers come with enough padding to cushion baby’s ride.

  • Speed control : many battery operated models allow you to select varying speeds for your baby. Most babies tend to prefer a little faster swing as they get older.

  • Accessories: some of the more elaborate bouncers provide music or sounds for your baby to enjoy while swinging. Others come with a canopy to protect your baby from the sun.
Baby Bouncer Safety
Most monitors come with some standard features including:
  • Never place your baby in a bouncer without fastening the safety harness.

  • Be sure you only use the bouncer for as long as your baby meets the minimum and/or maximum weight and age limits.

  • Never leave your newborn baby unattended while using the baby bouncer.

  • Be sure to assemble the product according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Lastly, keep in mind that most baby bouncers will come with a product registration card. Be sure you fill this out. That way if the manufacturer recalls the product at any point in time, they will be to get in touch with you. Don’t forget, most babies (and parents) instantly fall in love with the baby bouncer, which will provide hours of endless delight for your precious baby.
