Congratulations! During pregnancy week 13 you are now officially entering your second trimester. Your risk for miscarriage dramatically drops during pregnancy week 13. By now your baby has a discernable heartbeat, one your doctor may pick up on a Doppler. Your baby is still very small but continues to grow, and continues to resemble a tiny baby. As you follow your growth during pregnancy week 13, you may notice you begin to feel some one-sided cramping along the underside of your abdomen. This often results from stretching the uterus engages in as it adjusts to accommodate your baby.
Some women experience round ligament pain, which is pain that often comes from moving too quickly or abruptly while pregnant. Remember you are carrying a life inside of you, and in our pregnant state you are more delicate. If you do feel a sharp or stabbing pain then sit down or rest; if in bed you can change positions. Usually this will relieve your discomfort.
Another way to help reduce round ligament pain during week 13 pregnancy us by using a Snoozer Full Body Pregnancy Pillow. These pillows are created to wrap cozily around your entire body, providing you the comfort and support you need as your baby and belly continue to grow throughout pregnancy.
If your pain persists or seems worse, or if during pregnancy week 13 or anytime during your pregnancy you experience pain or cramping that persists, be sure to call your doctor to make sure you are not in premature labor or at risk for premature labor. Most times this pain is benign, but it is always in your bests interests while pregnant to find out whether your pregnancy symptoms or normal or unusual.
